Comparing 35mm lens – Pergear, Risespray, 7Artisans, Voigtlander

This article compares test shots taken with Fujifilm X-E2s and lens:

  • Pergear 35mm F1.2
  • Risespray 35mm F0.95
  • 7Artisans 35mm F1.2
  • Voigtlander 35mm F2.0 Ultron Aspherical Vintage line

F0.95

Risespray 35mm F0.95 lens shot only

Risespray @ F0.95

F1.2

Pergear (left), Risespray (center), 7Artisans (right)

It’s already important to note that field curvature of these lens is different. Pergear has border focus area curved closer toward camera, while Risespray and 7Artisans remain on the line. It’s good difference to know when composing shot.

F1.4

F2

At this aperture I’m also including Voigtlander 35mm F2 lens adapted on Fuji using LM>>FX ring. Pictures order: Pergear, Risespray, 7Artisans, Voigtlander.

F2.8

Only Pergear, 7Artians, Voigtlander (forgot to take a shoot with Risespray)

F5.6

Pergear, Risespray, 7Artisans, Voigtlander

F8

  1. Your blog has good content that I can’t find anywhere else. Thank you. However, you need to update your photography “models” to Lego Mandalorian and The Child, or at least Ghostbusters 😉

    1. Thank you Bill, I strongly agree, “models” need to be updated! And I like your suggestions! : )) Some of my other “models” got locked in the office which I can’t attend during quarantine time.

It’s interesting area to think about though, none of the test field I created so far reflect enough information I’d like to be there, so keep experimenting. I’d like single shot to show lot of things to compare: OOF areas, field curvature, sharpness, aberrations, distortion, corner falloff, colors, and also try to keep the scene closer to more realistic shots, not too a scientific. So hopefully there is some use out of them for now, and I’ll be happy to hear more suggestions.
